Occasions arise where original winding data is not available; it may have been recorded incorrectly, or a different service center may have stripped the core but not completed the repair. In those cases, the service center must come up with a new “bare core” winding design. Motor Winding Workbench has some specific features to address this need.
An important element of the Reference Motor database is that all motor data includes the motor manufacturer name. The manufacturer name adds authenticity and helps members understand the source of the data.
When rewinding a typical three-phase motor, an experienced motor winder can usually identify the winding pattern quickly. However, there are also motors where anticipating a repeating pattern can get a repair center in trouble.
Great leaders don't just manage—they inspire. Discover how to help your team members develop clarity of purpose, set meaningful goals, and take consistent action toward growth.
Written job descriptions can be tremendously helpful in making your operations run more smoothly, especially since employees are usually more productive when they know exactly what is expected of them. EASA’s publication, Job Descriptions For EASA Service Centers, provides a starting point for members who wish to write or revise job descriptions for their individual repair centers.
One of the basic dependable tests for DC fields and synchronous fields is the voltage drop test. This test can be performed using AC or DC voltage, but EASA’s Technical Support Team receives a lot of questions about how to interpret the results.
The only constant in our industry is change. As customer expectations, supply chains, workforce demographics and technological advancements continue to impact our businesses, it’s critical that we maintain focus on what’s important; building our core capabilities and what we bring to the market as EASA members. It is difficult to predict where we will be in 10 years, but what is certain is that we must continue to invest in our people and processes to ensure we can adapt and continue to deliver exceptional value. Five things separate future-ready shops from the rest: technical execution, engineering support, operational discipline, workforce development and organizational learning.
A high-quality standard doesn’t stop at the workbench. It’s how you treat the technician next to you, the customer with a unit down and the vendor on the phone. Hold every relationship in the building to the same standard you expect from a rebuilt gearbox: precision, honesty, and no shortcuts. Remember that the most important decisions you make are who you hire, who you provide work for and who you source parts from. Surround yourself with people who can carry a high standard, and you will spend far less time enforcing one.
Clear communication is the cornerstone of leadership effectiveness. Learn how to express ideas confidently, listen actively, and adapt your style to connect with any audience.
A bearing journal repair on a pump, motor or other machine shaft is a common repair in any EASA service center. The choice between welding, metalizing or plating should be considered for various applications. Time required, equipment cost, process cost, and of course durability in various applications are important concerns.
This 40-page booklet provides great advice for obtaining the longest, most efficient and cost-effective operation from general and definite purpose electric motors.
