One of the items discussed at the Marketing & Industry Awareness Committee meeting held September 27 in St. Louis was the continuing success of EASA’s Industry Awareness Campaign.
A goal of the campaign is to get EASA staff-authored technical articles in the trade press. And we continue to do very well in that area. That success is measured in the number of media “impressions.”
Since October 1, 2007, more than 1,639,000 media impressions related to EASA appeared in the trade and local media.
Other “publics”
Another important aspect of the campaign is industry representation. This part of the campaign includes presentations by EASA staff before other “publics” such as other Associations, industry groups, utilities, governmental agencies and end-users.
Perhaps most important, EASA staff members also represent your interests on a variety of standards-making committees that affect our industry. And I might add that these efforts are just as important as getting articles published. We have been very successful in this area as well.
For instance, Technical Support Specialist Tom Bishop, P.E., represents EASA member interests on the C392 Committee of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA). It’s especially important that we participate in that committee. They are considering a proposal to establish a new motor repair standard that would include a pass/fail test “to determine whether it is cost-effective to replace a motor to premium efficiency or repair it with assurance that original motor design performance and energy efficiency is maintained.”
Since 2003, 28 presentations have been made before end-user groups, and EASA participates in many external forums and technical committees.
EASA has been involved with the Motor Decisions Matters Campaign (www.motorsmatter.org) for several years now. It’s vital that we keep the repair option represented in this group and others.
Recent presentations
At its recent meeting, in addition to reviewing the list of articles published, the Marketing & Industry Awareness Committee also went over an extensive list of presentations by EASA staff. The committee also reviewed a list of external forums and technical committees.
