With all rotating electric machines, we think of electrical power at the winding terminals and mechanical power at the shaft.  This is true for all types of AC and DC machines, motors and generators alike.  This presentation provides a brief introduction to: 

• Most electric machine types in common use today 
• Common approach to classification in some popular texts 
• Construction differences between the different types of machines 
• How power supply requirements can affect the service center 

This presentation is intended for technicians, sales personnel and even administrative staff who might benefit from an introduction to rotating machines.
