New Series of How-To Videos Now Available

Training video thumbnailsHaving trouble finding time for training? Check out the how-to videos in EASA’s new series Electric Motor Repair Tips: go.easa.com/videos.

Four videos are available now (with more planned in the future). Topics include insulation resistance (IR) testing; how to set brush neutral on a DC machine; how to measure magnet wire; and how to measure a bearing journal. Each video is short (five to six minutes), so you can squeeze in job-specific training in minimal time.

Incorporating short, how-to videos into EASA's education strategy was recommended by Tagoras®, the consultant that surveyed EASA members and employees about training needs. Their summary noted that at least half of responding employees reported receiving too little electromechanical training. Additionally, about 59% of EASA decision makers were only “somewhat satisfied” with how much training their employees receive, while 22.5% were “not at all satisfied.” Not surprisingly, the biggest reason both groups gave for not participating in available training opportunities was “lack of time.”

Survey respondents also ranked short, job-specific videos as the most valuable form of training support EASA could provide. In choosing topics for short videos on these subjects, the Technical Education Committee drew from the technical support team's list of frequently asked questions.

Other videos planned include: setting endplay on vertical pump motors; seating brushes on DC machines; bearing mounting; single-phase rotor testing; fitting sleeve bearings; bearing lubrication during assembly; and interpole polarity.
