Mike WeinbergSupercharge Your Sales Leadership
Mike Weinberg, The New Business Sales Coach, LLC.

A powerful, highly interactive session with a singular focus: Radically increasing your sales management effectiveness.
In the opening segment, Mike Weinberg will hold up a giant mirror as he shares the most common (and deadly) sales management sins that prevent sales teams from bringing in more new business. Buckle up and prepare to be challenged as Mike presents issues ranging from lack of clear goals, lack of accountability, and lack of direction – to the futility of having “zookeeper” wired salespeople in hunting sales roles, to compensation plans that actually create complacency, to allowing sales reps to live in reactive mode and forget their primary job!
In the second part of the session, Mike will offer up simple, practical frameworks and easy-to-implement tips to help leaders:

  • Master a foolproof framework for a 1:1 accountability meeting with a salesperson and show you how to radically ramp up accountability without demotivating or micromanaging sellers
  • Become “smart” sales talent managers who get the right people in the right roles, who not only retain but maximize the results from their top producers, and how to quickly identify underperformance to begin coaching struggling reps “up or out” sooner
  • Understand their critical role in the sales process and the importance of providing clear direction and “Pointing the Team”
  • Lead sales team meetings that actually equip and energize sales reps!
  • And more ...

Taylor PowellHow Small Businesses Can Recruit, Retain and Motivate Top Talent
Taylor Powell, Industrial Motor Service Inc.

In today's competitive market, electric motor shops and small businesses alike struggle to recruit and retain talent, especially against the appeal of large corporations. Yet, what if we told you that small businesses could compete and win? Learn about a performance road map that not only engages employees but also drives operational success. In a male-dominated field, we’ve increased the percentage of women on our team from 10% to 25%, showing that top female talent can succeed in this space.

This session will outline how to:

  • Create job descriptions that foster engagement and performance.
  • Implement a performance road map and operational impact scale to drive team success.
  • Use KPIs to cut costs, improve efficiency, and create a bonus structure to motivate employees.
  • Build an accessible training program that allows employees to work at their own pace, modeled after Chick-fil-A’s proven system.
  • See real-world examples of how these methods recruited and motivated a team with no industry experience, setting them up for success in the electric motor shop environment.
  • Transition tribal knowledge into structured processes and drive employee retention.
  • Attract and retain top female talent in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

Case Studies: Solutions for Critical Motor Applications
John Jairo Hernandez Angel, HR Bobinados SAS

Are you facing challenging operating environments that threaten your motor reliability? This session will feature two compelling case studies that showcase innovative solutions for motors operating in extreme conditions. Learn how to extend motor life, prevent catastrophic failures and optimize performance through practical engineering solutions and preventive strategies. Case Study 1: High-Power Motor Underload Protection.  A critical investigation of a 6,400 KW motor operating below 40% load revealed accelerated insulation degradation and component oxidation. This case study demonstrates how proper system modification and operational strategies can prevent premature failure in high-power applications.

  • Root Cause: Underload operation leading to insufficient cooling and accelerated degradation
  • Solution Implementation: Cooling system redesign and operational protocol modifications.

Case Study 2: Extreme Environment Motor Redesign. Sixteen motors operating in wood drying chambers faced persistent failures due to exposure to saturated steam and extreme temperatures. This comprehensive redesign project showcases innovative solutions for extending motor life in harsh industrial environments. This is a "must-attend" session for engineers and maintenance professionals dealing with motors in challenging environments.

  • Environmental Challenges: 85%+ humidity levels, Temperatures exceeding 130°C, Saturated steam exposure
  • Engineering Solutions: Electromechanical modifications, Material upgrades, Cooling system enhancements
  • Implementation Results: Significantly extended service life, Reduced maintenance requirements

Tim AlbersChanges to NEMA Standard + IEC Harmonization
Tim Albers, Nidec Motor Corp. on behalf of NEMA

The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has published an updated ANSI/NEMA MG 1-2021, Motors and Generators, redesignated as NEMA MG 00001-2024.
This session will outline several major additions that serve to further harmonize NEMA MG 0001 and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards:

  • NEMA MG 0001-2024 contains new requirements for Super Premium levels for 1-500hp that align to IEC IE4 requirements for Totally Enclosed Fan-Cooled (TEFC) motors and also introduces an Open motor Super Premium level;
  • Updates adding type BE and CE Designs to align with IEC NE values and to support the new higher efficiency products; and
  • NEMA MG 0001-2024 introduces duty cycles that closely align with the IEC duty cycle values and serve to enhance the existing NEMA duty cycle values.

Although NEMA and IEC utilize different test methods to determine motor efficiency, the differences are smaller than ever. NEMA is collaborating with IEC working groups to harmonize energy efficiency classes globally, creating an easier path to compare motors from different regions.
