EASA Technical Support Specialist

Although it may seem like a simple topic, fully understanding the motor rating plate is a critical skill for electric motor repair workshops to ensure they know exactly what they are repairing. While international standards strictly dictate what information should be present on these plates, end-users rarely verify if the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) is complying.

This webinar will guide attendees through the essential data every shop must understand. We will begin by reviewing basic parameters, such as power, voltage, current, frequency, and speed, before diving into more advanced specifications like enclosure types, cooling methods, temperature rise, bearing designations, and design and kVA codes. Finally, we will examine practical, real-world rating plates to highlight critical details that end-users frequently overlook and discuss the costly implications of those oversights. This knowledge is not only vital for the shop floor, but it is also a powerful tool for sales teams. When a motor is deemed “beyond economically repairable,” understanding the rating plate allows sales to guide customers toward an informed, highly suitable replacement that will last longer, rather than simply defaulting to the cheapest available option

Topics include:

  • Decoding basic parameters: Power (what it truly means), voltage, current, frequency, and speed
  • Analyzing advanced specifications: Enclosures, cooling methods, temperature rise, bearings, and design/kVA codes
  • Case studies of real-world rating plates and the hidden details they reveal
  • Leveraging plate data to make informed "repair vs. replace" decisions

Target Audience: This webinar will benefit incoming inspection personnel, estimators, test bay technicians, management, and sales teams.
