Rea Magnet Wire Company, Inc.Carlos Ramirez

Insulation Resistance Test as a Maintenance Tool

Presented by Carlos Ramirez
EASA Technical Support Specialist

Insulation Resistance (IR), Dielectric Absorption Ratio (DAR) and Polarization Index (IP) tests are common tools used to assess the insulation condition of electric rotating machines and confirm the integrity of ground insulation systems, detecting the presence of moisture that can lead to winding failures. For large machines, the proper trending of the results helps to detect important changes and take corrective actions prior to experiencing catastrophic failures.

The webinar will cover:

  • Test procedures
  • Test voltages vs. machine rated voltages
  • Temperature correction
  • Evaluation of test results and trending

This webinar is intended for winders, mechanics, supervisors, and testing technicians.
